Consultations

We offer free consultations by appointment or walk in (depending on artist availability). Each of our artists set their own hourly rate and only offer price quotes in person after consultations.

DRAWING DEPOSITS

Once an appointment is made, your artist will ask you for a $50 minimum drawing deposit. All deposits go towards the final cost of your tattoo (if you have multiple sessions, the deposit will be applied to your final appointment). Deposits ensure our artists are compensated for their time and the cost of materials to draw your design and and set up for your appointment in the unfortunate event that you cancel within 48 hours or no-show. Deposits are nonrefundable but may be transferred to rescheduled appointments if the client provides 48 hours notice. We understand things come up! Please communicate with your artist if you’re unable to make your appointment.

Before your appointment

Be sure to arrive well hydrated! We recommend drinking plenty of water starting 24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to your appointment, nobody likes getting tattooed hungover. Your body and your artist will thank you!
Eat a solid meal! A hearty breakfast/ lunch/ dinner will help you through your tattoo and keep your blood sugar up.

Aftercare instructions

Traditional bandages must stay on a minimum of 6 hours, keeping it on overnight is highly encouraged.

If your tattoo is bandaged in View Guard, leave the clear bandage on for a minimum of 3 days not exceeding 7 days. View Guard is a medical-grade transparent adhesive bandage that prevents infections with a sterile protective breathable barrier. The membrane is designed to trap and use the skin's natural healing fluids and oxygen to heal your tattoo – leaving it on for 4 – 7 days will allow your body to heal your tattoo under the transparent second skin.

With clean hands, carefully: Remove bandage. Wash thoroughly with unscented soap (fingertips only, no washcloths). Dry tattoo by patting gently with a clean towel. Apply a thin layer of healing tattoo salve or Aquaphor.
Wash tattoo 2 times daily for at least one week

- Remember -
Wear CLEAN, loose clothing over your tattoo. Keep HANDS OFF tattoo unless washing, until the tattoo is healed.

DO NOT scratch or pick at tattoo; it will itch as it heals, try to keep it moisturized with non-scented, perfume-free lotion, tattoo aftercare balm or Aquaphor.

NEVER use Vaseline.

NO TANNING or sun for 4 weeks.

Proper aftercare will benefit the integrity of your tattoo for years to come; the aftercare of your tattoo is your responsibility and will greatly affect the healed artwork.

Founded in 1998 by Matt Reed, tigerlily has proudly served as one of portland's great tattoo and art studios

Matt Reed created TigerLily Tattoo in 1998 after apprenticing under Don Deaton at Oregon's oldest tattoo shop, Sea Tramp Tattoo. Since its opening, TigerLily has hosted some of the best artists in Portland, been featured in Tattoo Magazine and built a lasting reputation within the community. Matt's art and creative, funky style adorn the walls of the shop and show the rich history TigerLily has created.

In 2015, Matt, craving more art and less business, passed the torch to his apprentice Greg Bassindale and his wife Mary Kate. Matt continues to tattoo at TigerLily as well as indulge in freelance art projects around Portland. Greg and Mary Kate now own and operate the shop with TigerLily's legacy at the forefront, devoted to the history Matt created.

TigerLily is all about two things; art and family. We pride ourselves on producing all custom art for every tattoo we do. Each of our artists takes immense pride in their craft and their specific style of artwork. When you come in for your initial consultation, your artist will sit down with you, gather all your ideas, reference and specifications then take it all and turn it into a custom tattoo, unique to you.
